The victory over Miller help Bisping avoid his first back-to-back losses of his career. Before getting into this fight Bisping has fought Dan Henderson, Denis Kang and Wanderlei Silva. Meanwhile, Akiyama enters this match from loss to late replacement Chris Leben at UFC 116. It was Akiyama's first loss since a KO defeat to Jerome LeBanner.
